In early spring we celebrated International Women’s Day, which gave our team an opportunity to think about where companies like ours impact the standing of women in our industry. Besides the obvious impact we can be making in regards to hiring, paying and supporting women on our end, we were also giving thought to how eCommerce has given opportunities to women around the world.

The beauty of platforms like Shopify is that it lowers the bar of entry for people with great ideas, which additionally gives populations who have historically experienced less access in terms of finances and opportunity the ability to get online and sell. The challenges that don’t go away are those that are experienced by most entrepreneurs - among them growing knowledge and connections. And how to go about doing these two particular things impact female entrepreneurs differently than their male counterparts, many times because women often make a conscious decision to do things differently.

With this in mind, we want to share some fantastic resources we’ve come across for Female Entrepreneurs which easily apply to those in eCommerce. Please note that most of these resources apply to business ownership and leadership in the United States. Also, some may not be female-specific - we just want to make sure everyone’s in the know!*
